SECRET 1
“Mind over matter…“
Mindset is the largest area within the 7 secrets and for good reason. Working on this area will impact every aspect of your life, not just your body transformation.
It’s also the hardest area to work on, requiring introspection and acceptance of uncomfortable truths about yourself.
There are 9 areas to look at in total, which have been broken down into three levels.
The 9 Mindset Hacks

Managing Expectations
Deep, SMART Goals

LEVEL 1
“If it seems too good to be true it probably is…”
Do you often set very high, unrealistic expectations for yourself?
Ever noticed that when an event, a person or anything else does not meet the expectations you had you feel disappointed, upset or angry? Like the 2nd hand car salesman who sells you a pristine new car which lets you down, high expectations will do the same.
This is different to settings standards. By all means set high standards and stick to them, but expecting to those standards to be met by everyone and by yourself all the time may not be realistic.
“What’s your motivation? No, your real motivation…?”
If your goal is “to lose a bit of fat and tone up” this is post you could benefit from reading. To be effective, goals need to be clearly defined and specific.
It’s like saying you want to go on holiday, but not saying exactly where. How are you going to get there if you don’t know exactly where it is?
“You are not your mind…”
Are you aware of your own thoughts? You can have a thought, then think about that thought…deep! And very powerful if used wisely.
Which begs the question. If you can think about your thoughts, who are you? Clearly you are not your mind because your mind is where thoughts happen and you’re aware of your own thoughts…
The power of being conscious of our thoughts allows us to control them shape how we think.
LEVEL 2
“I need to be good 100% of the time or I’ve failed…”
When you start out on a new diet or training plan, do you expect to stick to it 100% of the time?
The reality is that almost nobody can achieve that…Maybe a monk. In the real world, life happens. There are parties, nights out, events and times when you feel stressed. It’s normal.
If you expect to stick to the plan without deviation it’s likely that you are setting yourself up for failure. You can change that.
“What’s your vice..?”
Sugar is as addictive as cocaine. If you don’t believe me, think about how often you have sugar. You might think you don’t have any, but it’s in nearly packaged food you buy. Sandwiches, breakfast cereal, bread…pretty much everything.
How often have you tried to quit eating chocolate, or removing caffeine only to find yourself having it just a few hours later?
“Change your behaviours and the results take care of themselves…”
Once you have a “deep, SMART goal” the next step is to decide which habits, actions and behaviours are needed to achieve those goals.
If you focus on changing your behaviours, the results will come. It’s inevitable. If your behaviours include exercising 4 times a week, you will get fitter. If your behaviours include eating chocolate 3 x a day, you will probably get fatter.
LEVEL 3
“The lies we tell ourselves…”
What do you say when you talk to yourself?
Is it compassionate “I can do this, I’m trying my best” or is it harsher “I’m rubbish at this, I’ll never achieve my goal”?
What you say to yourself has a huge impact on what you’ll achieve, how you’ll feel and how you’ll act. Being aware of what you are saying to yourself allows you to try and do what’s best for you.
“Easy come, easy go…”
The quick fix doesn’t work. You probably know that already if you’ve ever tried any extreme transformation programme or diet before. If you only spend 12 weeks trying to create a healthy body, it won’t last long.
A body transformation programme is just the start. That’s why it shouldn’t be too hard or extreme, as you won’t stick to it
