Smart Work & Hard Work

Everyone wants to work smarter, but is it even possible without having worked harder first?

  • Why working smart is the end goal but isn’t the first goal
  • You have to learn before you earn it
  • Motivate yourself to work hard

Smart Work & Hard Work is Key

If a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing well. This is the advice I have always believed in. Whenever you’re starting out at a new job, a new qualification, a new anything, you’re always going to have to put in the hours and effort to learn what it’s all about. There is no getting around that.

If you want to cut corners – the smarter way to achieving something – you’re going to have to know exactly where those corners are before you think about how to cut them.

Building a road

Hard Work Delivers

Hard work gets results. Maybe you don’t have the best ideas or the most creative ones, but you are a hard worker, learn well and do a great job. All the people around you are going to notice that and want you to be a part of their team. Now you’re in THE team that is going places. Sure, you might not be the one who gets all the credit for the amazing ideas but you’re still in a good place, right alongside a bunch of people who are making things happen. When you’re around those kinds of people opportunities seem to come up more often.

Build Success with Others

From this point you have access to knowledge from others around you that you wouldn’t have had before. It’s like a level up. A booster. You’re getting to see what these smart workers do and that is invaluable experience that you only get from being in that position you’ve had to earn.

Remember, the foundation is hard work first. That way you learn. You learn about yourself, about the business you are in, about the people you’re working with. You get involved in the circle of people who are influencers because they want hard working people around them. They value them and understand the importance of having hard workers in the team.

Build the Foundation

Building CompleteWhen you’re just starting out you don’t have any special skills or previous knowledge to give so you’re value is in grafting. Working hard to get noticed and showing your worth. People will notice and that recognition is a huge value add.

Without the hard work you can’t get the to the smart work because you don’t know what the smart work is. It has to be gained and learned through extensive knowledge and testing things out.

But I’m Creative…

Just because you are creative doesn’t mean you don’t have to work hard. You can have the best idea in the world but if you don’t put the hard work in to get it noticed no one is going to pay any attention to it. People want to see that you have the belief and passion about your idea that you are going to make it work and will do anything to make it happen.

If you aren’t prepared to put the effort into your own idea why would anyone else want to do it for you?
